Legacy of Love, Hope and Service Society (The LHS Society)

The Legacy of Love, Hope and Service (LHS) Society is being created to enlist support for Catholic Charities of Broome County from people who would like to leave a legacy so that the agency mission can be continued in the years to come. It enables people to leave a piece of themselves in this world as a way to provide a message of love, hope and service for others in need.

The patron saint of the LHS Society is Saint Teresa of Avila who said:

Christ has no body now on earth but yours, no hands, no feet but yours. Yours are the eyes with which Christ looks out his compassion to the world. ...

When you give to the LHS Society, your hands, feet and eyes continue to do the work of Christ through your gift. Because Catholic Charities of Broome County continually evolves to meet the ever changing needs of our community, you can be assured that your gift will be used wisely and as needed, whether it be for operations, capital needs or for special initiatives. You will join a group of others who also want to make a lasting difference in this world.

Our community knows that in times of need, whether it be for food, to help with disasters, during extraordinary times such as COVID, or to help youth, families and special needs individuals, the agency will be there for them. Catholic Charities works to make sure that no one falls through the cracks in our human services system.

As we celebrate the anniversary of 100 years of love, hope and service through Catholic Charities, please consider leaving your own legacy for posterity. Your hands and feet will continue on to do good for others, now and for the next 100 years.

The Legacy of Love, Hope and Service Society (LHS): How You Can Join

The Legacy of Love, Hope and Service Society (LHS Society) recognizes those who include Catholic Charities of Broome County in their future plans through a bequest, in a will, trust, life insurance, as a retirement plan beneficiary or life income gifts. You become a member of the LHS Society by notifying us that you have included Catholic Charities of Broome County in your will or estate plan, and by completing a Legacy Society Statement of Support, obtained below or through Catholic Charities of Broome County.

Gifts to the LHS Society are a great way to pay it forward to future generations of people who turn to the agency for help in times of need. Gifts may be used for specific purposes that are near and dear to your heart or can be used as needed for operations, capital projects or special service initiatives.

As part of the LHS Society and in the spirit of the Society's patron saint, Saint Teresa of Avila, your hands, feet and eyes of compassion advance the love of Christ for many years into the future and will allow Catholic Charities of Broome County support for the next 100 years.

As we develop our LHS Society, we anticipate other benefits to joining as a member:

1. Welcome letter and logo pin;

2. Individual assistance in discussing your gift and how it may benefit your family;

3. Special Legacy Society donor events to discuss the work of Catholic Charities and honor our Society members;

4. Legacy of Love, Hope and Service newsletter

5. Specialized program tours to view the work of Catholic Charities.
